PHOTO PHNOM PENH 2026 - “AT HOME IN THE WORLD”
October 22 – November 22, 2026
A key event on the Southeast Asian photography scene, Photo Phnom Penh joins forces for its 17th edition with the celebration of the bicentennial of the invention of photography, initiated by the French Ministry of Culture. On this occasion, more than a thousand events and institutions worldwide are taking part in this international commemoration.
This year, the festival runs alongside the 20th Francophonie Summit, which holds special significance as it is only the second time the summit is hosted in Asia, nearly twenty years after the Hanoi Summit. In this context, Photo Phnom Penh highlights the diversity of photographic expressions within this international community, centered around the theme At Home in the World.
In an increasingly interconnected world, how do we remain attached to the places and experiences that shape us while opening ourselves up to a broader space? How do the people close to us, the languages we speak, the memories we hold, the communities we belong to, the surrounding landscapes, our values, and our beliefs influence our sense of belonging? How do they connect us to something larger than ourselves?
For Photo Phnom Penh, 2026 also marks a new chapter as the festival adopts a collective curatorial coordination model. The team—now composed of Marie LE MOUNIER (France/Switzerland), MOENG Meta (Cambodia), Isabelle LE MINH (France), SOVAN Philong (Cambodia), and SAM I-shan (Singapore)—strengthens the festival's local and regional roots, opening it to a plurality of perspectives and fostering more contextualized dialogues.
